Associate Pastor Matt Guzi: I was born in Roanoke,
Virginia and went to high school in Hickory, NC. While in high school,
I became a Christian through the ministry of Young Life. I went to
college at Wake Forest and worked with Young Life as a volunteer
leader.
My wife, Jen, and I met after college while working at a Young Life
camp. We were married in 1994 and moved to Kernersville, NC. Jen and I
were part of a new church plant there and in 1997, I began serving as
an elder in that church. After a few years in the computer industry, I
joined the staff of Grace Presbyterian as the Director of Youth &
Family Ministries and began taking seminary classes at RTS in
Charlotte.
Our daughter, Taylor was born in the Fall of 1999 and Jacob was born
just before we joined Hope Community in June of 2002.
The biggest influences on my spiritual life and philosophy of ministry
have been Young Life, C.S. Lewis, Larry Crabb, Jack Miller, John
Piper, and Eugene Peterson.
